1FounderToolvs Cursor
An AI code editor for people who code, or a factory for founders who'd rather not.
Short answer
Choose Cursor if you can read and steer code. Choose 1FounderTool if you'd rather answer questions and review a working app — and it can use your Cursor subscription to do the building.
- Cursor: AI code editor, Pro $20/month, Teams $40/user/month
- 1FounderTool: free; no editor, no terminal, no Docker to learn
- 1FounderTool drives the Cursor CLI, so they work together rather than against each other
- 1FounderTool adds what an editor leaves to you: a plan, local Postgres, review, staging and deploy
1FounderTool
1FounderTool is a desktop software factory for founders. It asks a few questions, writes a plan you approve, and has a coding agent — Cursor among them — build a Next.js + Postgres app on your machine. You click through it, accept it and publish to your own server. Free to download and use.
Cursor
Cursor is an AI code editor built on VS Code, with an agent that edits your codebase. It's built for developers: you work in the code, choose models and review diffs. Free Hobby tier, Pro $20/month, Teams $40/user/month.

Choose 1FounderTool if
- You don't want to work inside a code editor
- You want a database, previews, review and deploy handled as one flow
- You already pay for Cursor and want it pointed at a whole product, not a file
- You want to approve scope before the agent starts
Choose Cursor if
- You're a developer and want an AI-native editor
- You need fine control over every change
- You work across existing codebases, not just new apps
- You want inline completions as you type
Questions
Can 1FounderTool use my Cursor subscription?
Yes. Cursor is one of the coding agents 1FounderTool can drive, through the Cursor CLI. You can also use Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Devin, OpenCode or Antigravity.
Do I need both?
Not if you don't code. If you do, they fit together: 1FounderTool runs the whole idea-to-deploy flow, and you can export the code and open it in Cursor any time.
